Balinese Gastronomy

Bali... a volcanic island in the Indonesian archipelago with fantastic landscapes
and an original culture has made it one of the world's most popular tourist destinations.

Tourists who discover Bali also discover a typical cuisine blending several influences: that of all the other Indonesian regions, but also contributions from Chinese and Indian gastronomy.

This cuisine offers a rich variety of spices, vegetables, meats and fish.
As in all Asian countries, rice remains the mainstay of the meal, and in Bali the cultivation of rice is centuries-old, with irrigation techniques and traditional terraced farming that can be admired all over the island (the Subak technique).

Balinese and Indonesian cuisine was recently in the news, with CNN's 2017 list of the world's 50 best foods naming Rendang as the world's best dish, and Nasi Goreng in second place!

If you want to discover the different flavors of Balinese cuisine, the rijsttafel is the right choice, offering a wide assortment of Indonesian recipes to share around the table.

The chef at Djakarta Bali makes all his Indonesian dishes with fresh, quality produce, without an ounce of sodium monoglutamate, which is banned from our house...
